About Me

Background:

Welcome to my kitchen! My name is Fatima, also known as Faye to basically just the internet. I am a food blogger and a continuously learning food photographer. I’m from the great state of Michigan. I have loved food ever since I can remember. My mom always teases me and says, “I eat to live, but you live to eat.” I can’t say she’s wrong…
I’m a proud foodie and have no issue admitting it. My love for food goes beyond just liking to eat. I love what food does for people. It can cure people. It can bring people together. It can make dreams come true. It can take away the sadness and pain, even if it’s just for a moment. Food is powerful. I think people are just now beginning to realize that with the foodie revolution that is happening on social media.
My love for food is simple. I’ve always loved the craft of making food and the joy it gives people. I remember being a bit too attached to my Easy Bake Oven, as a kid. I wore that thing out. I remember growing up, spending so many days in the kitchen with my mom, aunts, and grandmothers, just watching and soaking up knowledge from them. I remember being glued to the screen watching Julia Child, Alton Brown, or Emeril Lagasse. Most importantly, I remember all the big family gatherings we’ve had where food has been at the epicenter. I’m lucky because I have had this passion from a really young age. Some people go decades before finding their passion. I’m blessed in that I’ve always known. So, it only made sense that when I grew up a bit, I decided to pursue that passion professionally.

Blog Story:

Years later, I attended culinary school for a couple of years, where my main area of study was baking and pastries. After culinary school, I began to work in the food industry professionally. I’ve worked at a hotel, bakeries, restaurants, and more. Though I eventually had to leave the industry due to health issues, I don’t regret my time in it for a moment. I’ve learned so much through my time in the industry and I’m so happy that I have a platform to share the knowledge I’ve learned along the way and things I’m still acquiring every day. When I left my field, I knew I wanted to keep the craft of food in my life somehow. That’s how this blog came to be.

What to Expect:

The goal of the blog is very simple. Besides giving me a creative outlet, I wanted to share what I know and the new stuff I learn daily. I intended to create an online platform where both newbies and foodies can communicate and enjoy the content. The goal is to build a foodie community and I believe we’re working towards that goal daily. Though I was classically trained, I'm a big believer that food shouldn't be complicated. Cooking should be approachable and fun. That's the intention with Faye's Food.

On my blog, you'll find proven, easy, and deliciously written tested recipes along with easy-to-follow video tutorials. You’ll find authentic Lebanese recipes, French pastry recipes and so much more. These recipes have been taught to me, passed down or I’ve developed and tweaked them to perfection. Remember that I'm not here to turn you into a chef. I just want to help you navigate the kitchen and make food that everyone will love!
